Richard Grottheim will step down as CEO at AP7, Stockholm, next year.
Mr. Grottheim joined as deputy CEO in 2000, when the pension fund began operations. He has been CEO for 12 years, a news release said.
AP7 had 970 billion Swedish kronor ($107.2 billion) in assets as of Dec. 31.
The pension fund board has started a recruitment process for a replacement. Mr. Grottheim will remain as CEO until a successor is appointed, the news release said.
"The board would have liked to see Richard Grottheim stay on for a couple more years, but fully understands that he wants to devote himself to other things after long and faithful service. The financial result has been outstanding, the organization has high competence and the sustainability work has been exemplary," said Per Frennberg, board chairman, in the release.
Details on Mr. Grottheim's future plans were not available. A spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
