Zachary A. Hanna was named chief investment officer of the Alaska Retirement Management Board, Juneau, confirmed Stephanie Alexander, liaison officer.
Mr. Hanna, previously the board's deputy CIO, replaces Bob Mitchell, who retired effective Sept. 11. Mr. Mitchell had been CIO since 2017 when he succeeded Gary Bader, who retired earlier that year.
Ms. Alexander said the details of any potential search for a new deputy CIO haven't been determined.
The board oversees the management of $35 billion in defined benefit and defined contribution plan assets, including the $19.9 billion Public Employees' Retirement System and $9.5 billion Teachers' Retirement System.
