Mark Cormier will join Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, Toronto, on Jan. 4 as a managing director.
Mr. Cormier will report to Lori Hall-Kimm, senior managing director and head of global private equity at HOOPP, according to an email from a HOOPP spokesman.
In his role, Mr. Cormier will be focused on fund investing for the HOOPP Capital Partners unit, whose "strategies include private equity, private credit, secondaries and venture capital," the spokesman added.
The spokesman also said Mr. Cormier "will not be succeeding anyone" at HOOPP.
Mr. Cormier was formerly director-private funds and asset management at Alberta Investment Management Corp., Edmonton, according to an annual report from the firm.
HOOPP had net assets of C$114.4 billion ($89.5 billion) as of Dec. 31.
AIMCo invests globally on behalf of 32 pension, endowment and government funds in Albert and had C$136.6 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
