Kevin Bong will join Alberta Investment Management Corp., Edmonton, as senior managing director, chief investment strategist and head of Singapore.
It is a new position, an AIMCo spokeswoman said in an email.
Mr. Bong will start Aug. 14, said a news release Tuesday. He will be responsible for "setting overall investment strategy, including total portfolio management, dynamic and tactical allocation, currency and cash management, and a pan-asset class strategy with a focus on geographic diversification and thematic investing," the news release said.
Mr. Bong was formerly a global leadership group managing director and director of economics and investment strategy at GIC Private Ltd., Singapore's $690 billion sovereign wealth fund. GIC could not be immediately reached for further details.
AIMCo, which invests globally on behalf of 32 pension, endowment and government funds in Alberta, has C$158 billion ($117 billion) in assets under management.
