Sona Menon has joined Morgan Stanley as head of outsourced CIO, according to an internal memo obtained by Pensions & Investments.
In the memo, Lisa Shalett, CIO of wealth management and head of the global investment office, and Jeremy France, head of institutional consulting solutions, said Menon will “lead our team of investment officers, supporting the development and delivery of customized client solutions, and providing overall thought leadership to our institutional clients as she partners with world-class financial advisers and institutional consultants.” Menon will report to both Shalett and France, the memo noted.
Menon replaces Alper Daglioglu, who left the firm in January, said a source familiar with the matter.
The same source said Morgan Stanley’s OCIO business has $184 billion in assets under management.
Menon previously was a partner and head of pension practice for North America at Cambridge Associates. Menon’s prior OCIO responsibilities will be assumed by other members of Cambridge’s investment team, said a separate source familiar with the matter. Brian McDonnell, Cambridge’s global head of the pension practice, will be responsible for overseeing all regional pension operations, the source added.
