Kevin Lawi joined Credit Suisse Asset Management's credit investments group as head of origination within the direct lending team.
He is also a managing director and portfolio manager, private credit, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The position is new, and Mr. Lawi is based in New York. He focuses on originating transactions across the capital structure including direct first-lien, unitranche, second-lien and preferred equity financings, the person said. He will also work with private equity sponsors and corporations to target opportunities.
Mr. Lawi reports to John G. Popp, managing director, global head and CIO of the credit investments group. The group provides leveraged finance solutions and has more than $60 billion in non-investment-grade credit positions.
Credit Suisse Asset Management declined to comment.
Mr. Lawi was senior director, credit investments at PSP Investments. PSP spokesmen said there are no plans to replace him, with Mr. Lawi's responsibilities reallocated among the team. PSP had C$169.8 billion ($120.3 billion) in assets as of March 31.
