Brent Gledhill was named president of William Blair, a company spokesman confirmed in an email.
He replaces John Ettelson, who will remain CEO.
Mr. Gledhill was global head of investment banking. He is being replaced by Matt Zimmer, managing director and head of supply chain, commercial services and technologies.
Mr. Gledhill will remain a member of the firm's executive committee and extended leadership group.
