Matt Toms was named global chief investment officer at Voya Investment Management.
It is a new position, spokesman Kris Kagel said in an email. Mr. Toms, who will retain his responsibilities as CIO of fixed income for the insurer-owned money manager, continues to report to Christine Hurtsellers, CEO of Voya Investment Management.
Mr. Toms will maintain his current portfolio management responsibilities and Voya IM’s fixed-income investment team will continue to report to him. Vincent Costa, co-CIO of equities, and Paul Zemsky, CIO of multiasset solutions, will now report to Mr. Toms.
In addition, Michael Pytosh, who has served as co-CIO of equities with Mr. Costa (who is continuing in the role solely), and Jeffrey Bianchi, portfolio manager on multiple growth equities strategies, will be leaving the firm at the end of 2022. Leigh Todd, portfolio manager, will now serve as lead manager for the growth equities strategies.
Finally, Jeff Bakalar, senior managing director, group head and CIO of the leveraged credit group, will retire in April 2023 and be succeeded by Mohamed Basma, managing director, who has been named head of leveraged credit. Mr. Basma was previously head of senior loans and global CLOs.
As of June 30, Voya Investment Management had about $330 billion in assets under management.
