Jean-Michel Manry joined Vontobel as head of fixed income trading, based in Zurich.
The position is new and part of a number of hires for the fixed-income boutique.
Prior to Mr. Manry's arrival, Vontobel's fixed-income trading was conducted by the firm's central execution desk, a spokesman said.
Mr. Manry joined last month from Geneva-based family office Rama Capital. He was an operational and trading adviser.
Vontobel also appointed Nicolas Hauser as a fixed-income trader in Zurich and Pamela Gelles as a senior credit analyst on the developed market corporate bonds team in New York, both joining this month. Mr. Hauser was responsible for corporate and convertible bonds trading at Fisch Asset Management, while Ms. Gelles was a credit analyst at BNP Paribas Asset Management. Marc van Heems was appointed as a portfolio manager for the global corporate bond strategy in Zurich in January. He was a portfolio manager at Lombard Odier Investment Management.
The spokesman said Messrs. Hauser and van Heems' roles are new. Ms. Gelles replaced Diana Chiu, who moved to Vontobel affiliate TwentyFour Asset Management's team.
"These hires reflect the continued growth of, and investment into, our global fixed-income offering at Vontobel," said Simon Lue-Fong, head of fixed income, in a news release. "The volatility in markets over the last few months has demonstrated the importance of a truly active approach and the value of our high conviction active management style."
Vontobel has a total 312.2 billion Swiss francs ($335.9 billion) in assets under management.
