Scott Conking, a principal with Vanguard Group and head of the firm's U.S.-based institutional investor services business, has relocated to Hong Kong to take on the role of head of Vanguard Asia.
Mr. Conking, a 36-year Vanguard veteran, replaces Axel Lomholt, who has held the role on an interim basis since Dec. 19. Mr. Lomholt replaced Charles Lin, head of Asia at Vanguard Group, who left the company to pursue other opportunities, spokeswoman Dana S. Grosser said in an email.
Mr. Conking will oversee the firm's offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. He relocated to Hong Kong from Malvern, Pa.
Mr. Lomholt will "continue to play a strategic leadership role" for the company in Asia, a spokeswoman for the firm said. She did not comment further on his new role.
Matt Brancato, a principal and head of product strategy with Vanguard in Malvern, will take on Mr. Conking's previous role heading up institutional investor services in the U.S., the spokeswoman said.
