Edwin Kam, a Hong Kong-based portfolio manager with Value Partners Group's fixed income team, was named deputy chief investment officer, fixed income.
The role is new, a spokeswoman said. There's no plan to add another professional to the firm's 11-person fixed income team at present to replace Mr. Kam in his previous role.
Gordon Ip, the firm's chief investment officer, fixed income, in a news release cited Mr. Kam's "extensive knowledge of the mainland China and Asian markets, particularly in high yield credits and private financing," as factors in the portfolio manager's promotion.
The firm had $12.9 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
