Sergio Trigo Paz was named CIO and head of emerging markets fixed income for Union Bancaire Privee, the Swiss private bank said Monday in a release also announcing that Soledad Rocio Acoroni was named portfolio manager on the team.
Mr. Trigo Paz will be based in London and report to Philippe Lespinard, head of asset management in London and head of alternative fixed income. Before March, Mr. Trigo Paz served as head of emerging market debt at BlackRock for 10 years.
Earlier this year, BlackRock introduced a new structure for the teams managing emerging markets debt, led by Amer Bisat, according to a BlackRock spokeswoman.
Ms. Acoroni will be based in Zurich. She joined UBP from Larrain Vial AM in Chile where she was a portfolio manager focusing on Latin America corporate debt and low-carbon ESG strategies and Argentinian sovereign and corporate debt strategies, the UBP release said.
Mr. Lespinard said in the release that UBP is convinced that emerging markets, particularly fixed income, "represent an important source of performance, especially as the rate-hiking cycle in EM began well ahead of OECD countries."
