Jeremy Tan was appointed chief executive officer of online brokerage Tiger Brokers (Singapore)'s new fund management company, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Mr. Tan previously was Tiger Brokers' chief investment officer
The firm received its capital markets services license for fund management from the Monetary Authority of Singapore in May, and Mr. Tan's new role was made effective then. His key responsibilities are to establish the fund management and wealth management capabilities for the group, the spokeswoman said.
Tiger Brokers is headquartered in Beijing and owned by NASDAQ-listed Up Fintech Holding.
As CIO of Tiger Brokers (Singapore), Mr. Tan was responsible for strategic and tactical asset allocation for the firm, and providing thought leadership on the global market outlook. He also led the firm's investment committee for securities and fund selection. It could not be learned whether his previous CIO position has been filled. The firm's AUM was not immediately available.
Mr. Tan has worked in Singapore and Hong Kong at various financial institutions such as Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking and Harvest Global Investments, where he co-managed a long-only Asia ex-Japan equity fund for a pension fund client.
He joined Tiger Brokers as CIO last year. Before that, he was a discretionary portfolio manager at United Overseas Bank, where he managed multibillion discretionary global investment mandates for high-net-worth individuals and family offices.
