Gerben Lagerwaard was appointed head of continental Europe for State Street Global Advisors' global institutional group, a spokeswoman confirmed.
He replaces Marie-Anne Heeren, head of European institutional business. Mr. Lagerwaard reports to Ms. Heeren.
Based in Amsterdam, Mr. Lagerwaard is responsible for business development and client relationships in continental Europe. He also retains his responsibilities as head of SSGA's Dutch branch.
"Gerben has been an invaluable team member of the global institutional group, and a dedicated colleague who is skilled at managing client relationships and our business in the dynamic continental Europe region," Ms. Heeren said in a news release. "These are significant markets for us, and I am confident that Gerben's leadership will help us continue to make progress in the region."
SSGA has $3.47 trillion in assets under management. Continental Europe AUM was not available.
