Timothy Boomer joined SLC Management, the institutional asset management business of Sun Life Financial, Toronto, as head of client solutions, according to a news release Thursday from the company.
Mr. Boomer will be responsible for the oversight and development of solutions for SLC's retirement and insurance clients in North America, the release said. In the newly created role, he will also lead development of the firm's intellectual capital generation and asset-liability modeling capabilities.
Mr. Boomer joined the team on Monday and is based in SLC's Wellesley, Mass., office. He reports to Tom Murphy, head of institutional business for SLC Management, which had C$219 billion ($168 billion) in assets under management as of June 30.
Mr. Boomer was previously senior vice president for Boston-based Income Research & Management's liability-driven investing and pension strategy. A spokesman said in an email Friday that Mr. Boomer's departure was announced at the end of June. While a search for his replacement is under way, senior client portfolio manager Stephen Weiss will serve as the interim chair of the LDI team, the spokesman said.
