Samantha Foster joined Russell Investments as managing director of non-profit OCIO solutions, the company announced in a news release Wednesday.
"The position is new, part of an expansion of the team working with our non-profit OCIO clients," said Steve Claiborne, a Russell spokesman, in an email.
Ms. Foster is based in Long Beach, Calif., he said.
She joined Russell on March 21 from the investment office of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, where she was a managing director on the investment team managing USC's $8 billion endowment.
She also had oversight of the university's pension fund and charitable trust investments, Russell said in the news release.
Amy Diamond, USC's CIO, did not return a call seeking information about Ms. Diamond's replacement . The size of USC's pension fund and charitable trusts could not be learned.
Russell Investments had assets under advisement of $2.9 trillion as of June 30 and assets under management of $340.8 billion as of Dec. 31.
The firm managed $189.7 billion in OCIO strategies, including $26.2 billion for non-profit organizations, as of Dec. 31.
