Karin van Baardwijk was named new CEO of Robeco effective Jan. 1, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Ms. Van Baardwijk, currently the firm's deputy CEO and chief operating officer, will succeed Gilbert Van Hassel. The firm is looking for her successor, the spokeswoman added.
Ms. Van Baardwijk is based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
"Karin has shown strong, inclusive leadership and management skills in her current role as chief operating officer and deputy CEO. Her strengths in operations, technology, sustainability, relationship building, and her extensive experience within Robeco will undoubtedly enable her to be an effective and respected CEO," Maarten Slendebroek, chairman of Robeco's supervisory board, said in a news release Monday.
Mr. Van Hassel will relocate to New York, where he will take on a senior role for ORIX Group, parent company of Robeco. Details of who he will be replacing has not yet been disclosed by the firm. Mr. Van Hassel has been Robeco's CEO since 2016.
Robeco had €200 billion ($238.1 billion) in assets under management as of June 30.
