Nandita Sahgal, James Kinsbrook and Raviraj Salecha will form an emerging markets impact opportunities team at U.K.-based investment manager Redwheel, according to a news release.
The team will be led by Sahgal and will focus on investing in midmarket private infrastructure companies across three key sectors — energy generation and storage, transport and mobility, and circular economy in emerging Asian markets excluding China.
“Investing across the energy transition spectrum can generate long-term, attractive risk-adjusted and impactful returns,” said Tord Stallvik, Redwheel CEO, in the news release. “Nandita, James and Raviraj’s specialized expertise investing in essential transition infrastructure in emerging markets will complement the existing public and private markets strategies in our growing sustainable thematic franchise.”
The trio all were co-founders of sustainable investment firm EM Impact Capital. Sahgal had been chief investment officer since January, while Kinsbrook and Salecha had been managing directors since August 2023 and this August, respectively. All three had also previously worked together at sustainable investment and advisory firm ThomasLloyd Group.
EM Impact Capital had no comment.
Redwheel is made up of investment teams that specialize in sustainable and thematic equities, active engagement, emerging markets, value and income, and convertible bonds, and had a total of $18.1 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
