Don Guo has joined Prudential PLC as its group chief investment officer, effective Thursday.
Mr. Guo will oversee the firm's investment, treasury, and asset and liability management functions. He reports to James Turner, group chief financial officer, a news release said.
Mr. Guo is "responsible for the formulation and execution of Prudential's investment strategies across its markets in Asia and Africa," the news release said.
In addition, he will "ensure optimal asset-liability management outcomes for the group's insurance funds and provide effective liquidity management and capital market funding solutions for the group's balance sheet," the release added.
Kho Hui-Yi, a spokeswoman for Prudential, said by email that Mr. Guo is based in Singapore and succeeds Stephan van Vliet, who became group CIO at Zurich Insurance Group. Ms. Hui-Yi that “Don will work closely with the senior leadership team of Eastspring Investments Group," the asset management unit of Prudential.
Mr. Guo was chief investment officer-Asia and Europe at Catalina Holdings.
