George Maris joined Principal Asset Management from Janus Henderson Investors Tuesday as chief investment officer and global head of equities.
The position is a new one at the firm, said a spokeswoman.
Mr. Maris will lead the firm's global equities business, which had $221.2 billion in assets under management as of June 30 and 126 investment professionals around the globe.
Mr. Maris will also serve as a named portfolio manager on the firm's international equity strategies, according to a news release.
The 25-year industry veteran comes to Principal Asset Management from Janus Henderson Investors, where he served as head of equities for the Americas region and lead portfolio manager on that firm's international and global alpha equity strategies.
On July 20, Janus Henderson announced the hiring of Marc Pinto as head of Americas equities.
