Sabrin Chowdhury will join Pacific Investment Management Co. on Nov. 8 as executive vice president and global head of inclusion and diversity.
Ms. Chowdhury will be based in New York and report to Robin Shanahan, managing director and co-chief operating officer, confirmed spokeswoman Agnes Crane in an email.
The position is new, Ms. Crane said.
Ms. Chowdhury's responsibilities will include the design and implementation of human resources programs, policies and strategies to foster greater inclusion, representation and equity across PIMCO's units, the firm said in a news release Tuesday.
Ms. Crane also said "we've had executives performing this role in various capacities for years," including Marta Bezoari, executive vice president, head of strategy and communications, and global human resources who helped lead and PIMCO's global inclusion and diversity strategy efforts.
Ms. Bezoari will work with Ms. Chowdhury to transition inclusion and diversity activities she has been responsible for at PIMCO, the release said.
Previously, Ms. Chowdhury was associate partner in McKinsey & Co.'s organization practice and interim director of Americas diversity and inclusion.
"Ms. Chowdhury will be a strong addition to PIMCO's team. We are pleased that she will help us to oversee essential inclusion and diversity strategies that are an important part of our continued strategy … across the PIMCO," Ms. Shanahan said in the release.
