Jamie M. Weinstein will join Pacific Investment Management Co. on Sept. 1 as managing director, portfolio manager and head of corporate special situations.
The position is new, said Agnes Crane, a PIMCO spokeswoman, in an email.
Mr. Weinstein will be based at the firm's headquarters in Newport Beach, Calif., and will report to Daniel J. Ivascyn, group chief investment officer.
Mr. Weinstein will work with PIMCO's traditional, hedge fund, and private strategy portfolio management teams to find investment opportunities in private capital solutions, and stressed and distressed corporate credit, a news release said.
"Jamie brings to PIMCO broad experience in corporate credit and special situations investing." Mr. Ivascyn said in the release, adding "we see interesting opportunities emerging across the corporate credit landscape, which PIMCO is well-positioned to capitalize on."
Mr. Weinstein was a portfolio manager and co-head of special situations at KKR & Co. Nathaniel M. Zilkha, the other co-head of special situations, has assumed Mr. Weinstein’s responsibilities as part of his role as head of alternative credit at KKR, spokeswoman Cara Major said in an email. Mr. Zilkha also is a portfolio manager.
PIMCO had $1.76 trillion in assets under management as of March 31.
