Jason O’Brien joined the capital markets division of bond giant PIMCO as executive vice president and head of asset-based originations for Europe, Middle East and Africa, according to an internal memo seen by Pensions & Investments.
O’Brien will report to Richard LeBrun, managing director and head of alternatives business management, and Kristofer Kraus, managing director and portfolio manager.
He will be based in London and work closely with portfolio managers, in addition to collaborating with Harsh Srivastav, executive vice president and portfolio manager, and Sean Meeker, executive vice president, head of capital markets–Americas.
O’Brien and the wider PIMCO capital markets team will be expected to strengthen the firm’s origination and syndication capabilities across both public and private markets.
PIMCO managed $2 trillion in assets, including $1.62 trillion in third-party client assets, as of Sep. 30.
O'Brien was managing director and head of EMEA at Atlas Partners. Atlas has been contacted for comment on any replacement.
