Mathieu Clavel was named managing director and portfolio manager, head of private credit Europe at Pacific Investment Management Co., confirmed Michael Reid, a PIMCO spokesman, in an email.
The position is new. Beginning September 2021, Mr. Clavel will manage PIMCO's European special situations business and work with the firm's portfolio management team in its traditional, hedge fund and private strategy groups to seek out potential opportunities in private capital solutions, stressed and distressed corporate credit.
He will also be responsible for building up the firm's private strategies business with new hires. He will be based in London.
Mr. Clavel was head of European and Asian corporate credit and co-head of Europe for Sculptor Capital Management. He is being replaced by Dylan Szymanski, a managing director on the credit team, a Sculptor Capital spokesman confirmed.
PIMCO managed $1.92 trillion in assets as of June 30.
