Hometown money manager Oaktree Capital Management LP is taking over as the presenting sponsor of Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles' Wish Gala 2019 from last year's presenting sponsors Viacom Inc. and Paramount Pictures Corp.
The annual fundraiser, to be held Nov. 20 at the Beverly Hilton, is expected to assemble 800 celebrities, philanthropists and industry leaders from real estate, finance and entertainment. Oaktree has been a sponsor and supporter of the Make-A-Wish Greater L.A.'s annual Wish Gala since 2013.
During the this year's gala, Jason Keller, managing director and head of residential investments for Oaktree's real estate group, and Paul Fuhrman, managing partner at Miramar Capital, will be given the Philanthropic Leader Award. Past honorees include Nickelodeon, actor Robert Downey Jr., music executive Scooter Braun, former NBA player Kobe Bryant and the NHL's Los Angeles Kings hockey team.
Messrs. Keller and Fuhrman in 2012 co-founded a real estate division for Make-A-Wish Greater L.A., which has raised more than $2.5 million and now has 400 members.
"Oaktree's real estate team is proud to have supported Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles for the last seven years, and we are honored to receive this recognition," Mr. Keller said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing to partner with Make-A-Wish and supporting the creation of wishes in our Los Angeles community for many years to come."
