Radhika Shroff was named managing director of Nuveen’s private markets impact investing business, the firm said in a statement.
The position is new. Ms. Shroff will build out Nuveen’s emerging markets portfolio by focusing globally on direct private equity investments in key areas such as inclusive growth and resource efficiency.
David Haddad was named co-head of private markets impact investing in November.
Rekha Unnithan, co-head of private markets impact investing at Nuveen, said in the statement that Ms. Shroff “brings deep expertise in emerging markets from her experience investing in and directly engaging with growth equity companies in these countries,” and that her skills will bolster Nuveen’s commitment to enhance its impact investment capabilities and partnerships.
Ms. Shroff was deputy chief investment officer at Accion Global Investments, where she also managed a portfolio of global equity investments related to underserved populations in emerging markets. Information about a replacement was not available.
Nuveen, the investment manager of TIAA-CREF, had more than $1.1 trillion in assets under management as of Dec. 31. It has allocated more than $1 billion to impact investments over the past decade.
