James Nelson was appointed head of global public product at Nuveen, according to a memo from Mike Perry, head of Nuveen's global client group and head of global product, that was provided to Pensions & Investments.
Nelson will report to Perry, and he will "lead equity and fixed income product development and management across all '40 Act and advisory wrappers including mutual funds, closed end funds, ETFs, interval funds, SMAs and CITs," the memo said.
Nelson replaces Christopher Stickrod, who was promoted to the role of product general manager within TIAA-CREF's institutional managed solutions unit in March, a spokesperson said.
"Stickrod has been working with Nuveen to ensure a smooth transition in the interim," the spokesperson added.
Nuveen is a wholly owned subsidiary of TIAA.
Nelson was most recently head of North American product management and pricing at Invesco. Invesco could not be immediately reached for further details.
Nuveen had $1.1 trillion in assets under management as of June 30.
