Rekha Unnithan and David Haddad were named co-heads of impact investing in private markets by Nuveen on Monday.
The positions are new, part of Nuveen's push to expand its private market impact investment business, an internal employee memo obtained by Pensions & Investments showed.
Ms. Rekha and Mr. Haddad both are based in New York and report to Justin Ourso, head of Nuveen's real assets unit.
Ms. Rekha will retain her existing role as lead portfolio manager on Nuveen's private markets investment team, which seeks to make private equity, real estate, mortgage and other investments to implement the firm's commitment to affordable housing, inclusive growth and resource efficiency, the memo said.
She and Mr. Haddad are responsible for investments in the portfolio, said Stewart Lewack, a company spokesman, in an email,
Mr. Haddad was a partner at private equity manager Olympus Partners. Michael Horgan, a partner at the firm, could not immediately be reached for information about Mr. Haddad's replacement.
Nuveen managed about $1 trillion as of Sept. 30, including private market impact investments totaling $1.2 billion.
