Saira Malik was named chief investment officer of money manager Nuveen.
It is a new position, a spokeswoman said in an email.
Ms. Malik will continue with her prior responsibilities as chief investment officer, equity, and her lead portfolio manager roles for the CREF Stock, CREF Growth and CREF Global Equities strategies.
In her newly structured role for Nuveen, she will lead the firm's global investment committee and will "drive market and investment insights and deliver client asset allocation views from across the firm's independent investment teams," a news release said Monday.
She reports to William T. Huffman, president of Nuveen Asset Management and head of Nuveen equities and fixed income.
As of Sept. 30, Nuveen had $1.2 trillion in assets under management.
