Julie Moret was appointed global head of sustainable investing and stewardship at Northern Trust Asset Management.
The position is new, and Ms. Moret oversees the firm's sustainable investing and global engagement policies. She's also responsible for fostering research and product development plans, furthering the integration of sustainability across asset classes and being an outward-facing representative for NTAM to external industry associations.
She started Tuesday, a spokeswoman said.
Based in London, Ms. Moret leads a team of global ESG specialists. The size of the team could not immediately be learned.
"Julie brings deep expertise and keen insights in all facets of sustainable investing and stewardship. Her investment acumen and product knowledge span all major asset classes, geographies and industries," said Shundrawn Thomas, president, in a news release. "Her unique combination of skills and experiences will serve as a tremendous asset to all of our key stakeholders including our colleagues, clients and the communities we serve."
NTAM has $1.1 trillion in assets under management.
Ms. Moret was global head of ESG at Franklin Templeton. Her departure was revealed in a March news release by the firm, which said it was actively recruiting a replacement. The manager also announced the launch of its stewardship and sustainability council, bringing together experience and expertise from across Franklin Templeton and affiliate Legg Mason.
A spokeswoman for Franklin Templeton could not immediately be reached for comment.
