Guido Baltussen was named head of quantitative strategies-international, a newly created role, at Northern Trust Asset Management.
Baltussen will lead Northern Trust's international quantitative strategies investments, focusing on quantitative research and innovation, thought leadership and investment strategy, a Nov. 15 news release said.
Based in Amsterdam, Baltussen will oversee the firm's expanding international quantitative teams in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
Baltussen will report to Michael Hunstad, deputy chief investment officer and chief investment officer of global equities.
NTAM had $31.7 billion in assets under management in quantitative strategies as of Sept. 30. The firm had a total of $1.09 trillion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
Baltussen was head of equity factor investing and co-head of quantitative fixed income at Robeco, the release said.
A spokesperson for Robeco said Baltussen's former position will not be replaced as the firm's quant investing and research department has a strong integrated platform.
