Niels Bodenheim was appointed head of alternative credit at NN Investment Partners effective Jan. 13, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Mr. Bodenheim is replacing CIO Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, who has held the newly created role in interim after the departure of Han Rijken, head of specialized fixed income, who left on July 1. Mr. Rijken was also replaced by Edith Siermann, head of fixed income and responsible investing.
Mr. Bodenheim will be responsible for overseeing the €40 billion ($44 billion) alternative credit capability, which consists of corporate debt, residential mortgages, commercial real estate lending, loans and infrastructure debt.
"Niels' appointment further solidifies our commitment to growing our alternative credit capability. Niels is an energetic and motivated leader who is capable of driving the existing creativity within the team towards client oriented solutions," Mr. Van Nieuwenhuijzen, CIO of NN Investment Partners said in a news release.
Mr. Bodenheim is joining NN IP from consultant bfinance, where he was senior director for private markets. A spokeswoman said market trends will determine who will replace Mr. Bodenheim.
"We are looking to expand that private markets team (with an) upper midlevel-type hire within the next three to four months. But it remains to be determined whether that will cover the equity or debt side of private markets," the spokeswoman said.
Thibault Sandret, senior associate, has covered corporate direct lending since April, while Infrastructure Director Anish Butani is responsible for infrastructure debt, the spokeswoman said, adding that real estate debt is run by bfinance's real estate team.
