Adrie Heinsbroek was named chief sustainability officer at NN Investment Partners, a spokesman said.
The role is new and effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Heinsbroek, who is based in The Hague, Netherlands, will advise the firm's board on sustainability challenges and their implications for the firm, including regulations and risks related to climate change. In addition, he will advise the board on the firm's carbon footprint and help implement a responsible investment approach into investment strategies.
Mr. Heinsbroek will report to Arnoud Diemers, head of innovation and responsible investing platform, and will directly advise Satish Bapat, CEO, on sustainability issues.

With Adrie's extensive knowledge and expertise, I'm confident that we can remain at the forefront of sustainability developments and responsible investing, and can continue to deliver on our clients' responsible investing needs," Mr. Bapat said in a news release Thursday.
Mr. Heinsbroek joined NN IP in February 2017 as principal for responsible investment. He will not be directly replaced. Current activities will be absorbed into the team or transferred to other departments, the spokesman said.
NN Investment Partners had €295 billion ($345.3 billion) in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
