Seyi Bucknor was named head of North America at Newton Investment Management, a unit of BNY Mellon, a spokeswoman confirmed Thursday.
Mr. Bucknor takes on the role, which had been vacant at Newton for four years, held by Jim Wylie, who left the firm in 2015, the spokeswoman said in an email.
As head of North America, Mr. Bucknor will lead the distribution and client service functions for Newton in the region and report to Julian Lyne, chief commercial officer.
Mr. Bucknor was previously a commercial investment director for Newton, which he joined in April. In that role he was responsible for promoting the firm's integrated and sustainable investing credentials in both institutional and intermediary markets in the U.S., the spokeswoman said.
No one has replaced Mr. Bucknor in the role of commercial investment director, the spokeswoman added.
Newton Investment Management had $62.1 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
