Nico Aspinall was named head of product advocacy at Newton Investment Management, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The position is new. Mr. Aspinall will help develop and oversee Newton's sustainable investment capabilities. He will also provide guidance and expertise to portfolio managers and research teams on the firm's sustainability strategy, reporting to Therese Niklasson, global head of sustainable investment.
"Nico's combined experience of developing sustainable solutions and managing pension investments allows us to deliver strategic sustainability support to clients in this growing and nuanced space," Ms. Niklasson said in a news release. "This appointment also demonstrates our commitment to fulfill client net-zero ambitions, and to help navigate portfolios through the complex energy transitions that are unfolding across the world."
Mr. Aspinall is an independent consultant and founder of Nico Aspinall Consulting. He was previously CIO at Connected Asset Management and CIO at The People's Partnership, a U.K. defined contribution multiemployer plan.
Newton had $103 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
