Marcello Arona was named CEO of AXA Investment Managers U.K. and AXA Investment Managers GS, a spokesman said.
Mr. Arona's appointment is effective April 1, subject to the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority's approval. Mr. Arona will replace John Stainsby, interim CEO for the U.K. and GS entities. Mr. Stainsby replaced Philippe d'Orgeval who left in December. Mr. d'Orgeval was appointed U.K. CEO of Amundi.
Based in London, Mr. Arona will oversee the firm's operations and report to Marco Morelli, executive chairman, and Godefroy de Colombe, global chief operating officer.
Mr. Arona is currently head of AXA IM Americas. His replacement will be named before April 1, the spokesman said.
Mr. Stainsby is also head of core client group U.K. He will return to that role once Mr. Arona takes over in April.
"Marcello's knowledge of the company and his previous experience as COO, CFO and head of AXA IM Americas will be invaluable to ensure our second most important office in size continues to progress, from a business and employee engagement perspective," Mr. de Colombe said in a news release Friday.
AXA IM had €830 billion ($971.5 billion) in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
