Maarten Nederlof joined Neuberger Berman on Tuesday as managing director and head of portfolio solutions Americas.
Mr. Nederlof's position on the firm's quantitative and multiasset class investment team is new, spokesman Alexander Samuelson said. He reports to the co-heads of the team, Erik L. Knutzen, managing director and multiasset class CIO, and Douglas Kramer, managing director.
"Maarten brings more than 30 years of experience in designing and implementing systematic solutions for clients. Maarten strengthens our ability to work with clients and enhances our effectiveness in delivering tailored quantitative strategies," Mr. Kramer said in a news release.
Mr. Nederlof was founder, CEO and CIO of Risk Premium Investment Management Co., which will close. Two employees of the firm, which Mr. Samuelson declined to name, also joined Neuberger Berman as a vice president and an analyst.
All of the firm's institutional investors, with total assets of $500 million, agreed to move with the Risk Premium Investment team to Neuberger Berman, which now manages the assets, Mr. Samuelson said.
Mr. Nederlof and his team brought their proprietary risk-premium investment technology with them and "using this tool, the team will provide Neuberger Berman clients with additional decision-making support on identifying and addressing gaps in portfolio exposures, affirming and maintaining conviction with existing allocations, and managing risk," the release said.
Neuberger Berman managed $339 billion as of Sept. 30.
