Fabiana Fedeli will join M&G as CIO, equities, effective Aug. 23, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The role is new, but Ms. Fedeli takes on some responsibilities from Anton Oliver, head of equities, who has been appointed head of investment business management. He will continue to oversee the equities division from a business management perspective, the spokeswoman said.
Ms. Fedeli will report to CIO Jack Daniels.
Last year, M&G committed to refreshing its active equity investment capabilities. The equities division has £57 billion ($79.1 billion) in assets under management.
"Fabiana's appointment demonstrates our commitment to this vital asset class, bringing a wealth of investment experience in both equities and sustainability," Mr. Daniels said in a news release. "Fabiana will be working with M&G's talented team of investors, to promote greater collaboration, idea generation and innovation across the equities division."
M&G has a total £367 billion in assets under management.
Ms. Fedeli was global head of fundamental equities at Robeco Asset Management. Mark van der Kroft, CIO equities, will take over day-to-day management responsibilities, a spokeswoman said. He was CIO of equities between 2003 and 2010 and knows the fundamental equity team well. "We are currently assessing what the optimal management structure is for fundamental equities and whether a direct replacement for Fabiana's managerial role is desired," she added.
