Alison O'Neill was named chief investment officer of MFS Investment Management, effective Jan. 1, 2025.
She will take over from Edward M. "Ted" Maloney, who in turn will become the firm's next CEO on Jan. 1, 2025, as MFS announced in December.
O'Neill has worked at MFS since 2005 and was most recently co-CIO of equity.
O'Neill will retain her co-CIO of equity title "for the time being," a spokesman said. He declined to comment further. She will likewise remain a portfolio manager of MFS' $6.6 billion Massachusetts Investors Trust and similarly managed institutional strategies.
MFS had $615.1 billion in assets under management as of Feb. 29.
