Brent Kao joined MetLife Investment Management in Hong Kong as a managing director in the firm's institutional client group.
Mr. Kao will "lead institutional client strategy and the delivery of investment solutions to clients in Asia, excluding Japan," with a focus on Hong Kong, China, Korea and Southeast Asia, according to a MetLife news release.
He replaces Jingsu Pu, who will take on an expanded leadership role in MIM's insurance strategy and solutions business, according to a spokesman for the firm.
The spokesman declined to say how much money MetLife is managing for Asia-based clients. Globally, the firm manages $166.9 billion for institutional clients, as well as $424 billion in insurance assets.
Mr. Kao was most recently head of Asia official institutions and consultant relations at BlackRock, the news release said.
A BlackRock spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
