Dean Heaney has been named as head of institutional distribution at U.K. firm Mercia Asset Management, according to a news release.
It is a new position, and Heaney will be based in London.
Heaney is expected to lead Mercia's distribution strategy across its venture capital, debt, private equity and real assets strategies.
"Dean is an outstanding appointment for Mercia, and he will play an important part in our strategy to accelerate the growth of our assets under management,” CEO Mark Payton said in the news release.
“Mercia’s track-record, U.K.-wide footprint and capabilities across a broad range of asset classes make us highly relevant for institutional investors in particular,” he said.
Heaney was most recently head of U.K. institutional at asset manager Franklin Templeton and had been in the role since 2020.
“We would like to thank Dean for his contributions to the firm. We are currently hiring to replace this role and will share further details once available,” a Franklin Templeton spokesperson said in emailed comment to Pensions & Investments.
As of July 25, Mercia had £1.8 billion ($2.3 billion) in assets under management.
