Kah Siang Khoo, CEO of Singapore for Manulife Asia, will be appointed CEO of emerging markets, effective June 1, overseeing Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines, said a news release Feb. 10.
Sachin Shah, the current head of emerging markets, is leaving Manulife Asia.
Benoit Meslet, CEO of Japan, will succeed Khoo as the CEO of Singapore, effective June 1.
Ryan Charland, CEO of Indonesia, will transition to CEO of Japan, effective May 1. Charland will join Meslet in Japan in April to ensure a smooth transition, the news release said.
Lauren Sulistiawati will take over as CEO of Indonesia, starting Feb. 24. She will work closely with Charland to ensure a seamless transition, and she will report to Khoo.
Sulistiawati most recently worked at Commonwealth Bank. According to her LinkedIn page, Sulistiawati served as president-director at Commonwealth Bank in Indonesia. Commonwealth Bank could not be immediately reached for further details.
All of the aforementioned executives will report to Phil Witherington, president and CEO of Manulife Asia, until May 9, when Witherington will take over as president and CEO of Manulife Asia’s parent corporation, Manulife Financial. At that time, a successor to Witherington will be named at Manulife Asia.
Manulife Financial has more than C$1.4 trillion ($979 billion) in assets under management and advisement.
