Michael Kopfler was named managing director and global head of equity trading at Macquarie Asset Management.
Mr. Kopfler, who began in the role Monday, is responsible for the daily operation and management, as well as the overall strategic direction of the manager’s global equity trading desk, spokeswoman Jessica Fitzgerald said in an email.
He replaces Stuart George, who announced his intention to leave to pursue other opportunities and is staying on temporarily to ensure a smooth transition, Ms. Fitzgerald said. Mr. Kopfler reports to John Leonard, global head of equities.
Mr. Kopfler was previously head of fixed-income trading at Fidelity Investments. He left the firm on Sept. 30, and the manager divided those responsibilities into two roles, Fidelity spokesman Adam Banker said in an email. Renzo Iturrino is head of bond trading and Ryan Noonan is head of money market trading, Mr. Banker said.
As of March 31, Macquarie Asset Management had A$562.2 billion ($428.3 billion) in assets under management.
