Janelle E. Woodward was named president of equity and fixed-income money manager MacKay Shields.
She will replace Lucille P. Protas, also an executive managing director and the firm’s chief operating officer, who plans to retire Dec. 31, spokeswoman Allison Scott confirmed. Ms. Protas’ chief operating officer responsibilities have been taken on by other team members.
Ms. Woodward, who joined the manager Sept. 15 and reports Chairman and CEO Jeffrey S. Phlegar, was previously global head of fixed income at BMO Global Asset Management. BMO Global spokeswoman Orli Giroux Namian could not be immediately reached for further information.
As of Aug. 31, MacKay Shields had $144 billion in assets under management.
