Marc Palahi was named chief nature officer at Lombard Odier Investment Management, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The position is new. Mr. Palahi is responsible for further developing the firm's soon to be launched nature strategy within the firm's holistiQ's sustainable investment platform.
He is also tasked with integrating nature across research for the firm's core businesses and creating new tools and investment solutions that support building a low-carbon economy.
"Marc's extensive academic experience across nature, forests and the emerging circular bioeconomy industries will be instrumental as holistiQ develops leading nature-based investment products that seek environmental outcomes and compelling returns for clients," said Jean-Pascal Porcherot, co-head of LOIM and managing partner of Lombard Odier, in a news release Tuesday.
Mr. Palahi had been director of the European Forest Institute since 2015.
Lombard Odier IM had 63 billion Swiss francs ($68.2 billion) in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
