Nicholas Hyde was named managing director to lead the client partner group in Australia and New Zealand at KKR.
Whether the role is new could not immediately be learned.
Based in Sydney, Mr. Hyde will be responsible for managing and expanding the firm's client relationships in Australia and New Zealand. He will also raise capital for KKR's private and public markets strategies and lead new business development for the region, said a news release.
"He brings significant experience that will help us further develop our business in Australia and New Zealand and strengthen our relationships with our valued investment partners," Scott Bookmyer, head of KKR Australia, said in the release. "Nic's appointment reinforces our long-term commitment to the Australian market and he will play an important role in our continued efforts to build a multiproduct, world class platform across a diverse range of strategies in the region."
KKR, which has invested in the Australian market since 2006, has invested or committed more than A$9 billion ($5.8 billion) of equity into companies across asset classes.

Mr. Hyde was a director responsible for leading new business development to institutional clients in Australia, New Zealand and Asia across private equity, infrastructure, debt and alternatives at IFM Investors in Sydney, the release said. A spokesman could not immediately be reached.
