Yo Takatsuki was named head of investment stewardship for Europe, Middle East and Africa at J.P.Morgan Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The appointment is effective immediately. Mr. Takatsuki replaced Rob Hardy. Mr. Hardy was named corporate governance director at Capital Group, a spokeswoman for Capital confirmed. The role is new.
Mr. Takatsuki leads the firm's investment stewardship efforts, including proxy voting, stewardship reporting and corporate engagement, reporting to Jennifer Wu, global head of sustainable investing.
"Yo's extensive expertise as a sustainable investing specialist and track record in leading investor stewardship programs positions him incredibly well for his new role, particularly as we continue to intensify our focus across our five global stewardship priorities," Ms. Wu said in a news release Monday.
"This will include engaging with companies to actively encourage enhanced disclosure of ESG and climate data, including transparency in their choice of metrics and targets, as well as alignment of their strategy to different climate transition pathways in line with (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) recommendations and (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) standards, to help ensure asset managers and asset owners have useful and comparable information when making important investment decisions," she added.
J.P. Morgan Asset Management had $2.3 trillion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
Mr. Takatsuki was head of ESG research and active ownership at AXA Investment Managers. A spokesman said the firm is recruiting a replacement.
