Rick Wei will join J.P. Morgan Asset Management in Hong Kong as head of Asia ex-Japan insurance strategy, according to a news release Monday.
Mr. Wei replaces Alan Yip, who left JPMAM in July to join Neuberger Berman as a managing director.
Mr. Wei was head of Asia insurance strategy at BNP Paribas Asset Management, where was responsible for designing customized insurance solutions, the news release said. A BNP spokesman said Christian Bucaro, co-head of distribution, Asia-Pacific, "is reviewing the role on how it will best fit the strategic goals of BNP Paribas Asset Management's sales team."
JPMAM's global insurance solutions team has more than $144 billion in general account assets under management globally, according to the news release.
