Yo Takatsuki was named global head of investment stewardship at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, effective Wednesday, a spokeswoman confirmed.
It is a new position, although it expands on Mr. Takatsuki's current role. Mr. Takatsuki, who serves as head of investment stewardship for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will now oversee investment stewardship in North America and the Asia-Pacific as well.
Based in London, Mr. Takatsuki, who joined the firm in February, leads the firm's efforts such as proxy voting, corporate engagement and stewardship reporting. He reports to Jennifer Wu, global head of sustainable investing.
"As we continue to build out and accelerate our research-driven, investor-led investment stewardship activities globally, we look forward to having Yo spearhead the evolution of our corporate engagement and proxy-voting practice," Ms. Wu said in a news release Wednesday. "Yo has hit the ground running since joining our team, so we're delighted he has accepted this new global remit."
Following the appointment, the firm's North America stewardship head Nishesh Kumar, Asia-Pacific ex-Japan stewardship head Felix Lam and Japan stewardship head Shizuko Ohmi will report to Mr. Takatsuki.
JPMAM had $2.7 trillion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
