Greg Wilensky was named head of U.S. fixed income at Janus Henderson Investors, effective Jan. 29.
Based in Denver, Mr. Wilensky will report to Jim Cielinski, global head of fixed income, and will oversee the team managing Janus Henderson's U.S. multisector fixed-income strategies.
Mr. Wilensky's hiring comes as a result of the pending retirement of Darrell Watters, head of U.S. fundamental fixed income, according to a news release Tuesday. Mr. Watters plans to retire at the end of the year.
Whether Mr. Wilensky is taking on all of Mr. Watters' responsibilities could not be immediately learned.
Mr Wilensky is currently lead portfolio manager for AllianceBernstein's U.S. multisector fixed-income strategy, according to the news release. AllianceBernstein spokeswoman Jennifer Will said in an email that Janaki Rao, senior vice president and portfolio manager, and Dimitri Silva, vice president and portfolio manager, will take on Mr. Wilensky's responsibilities effective Dec. 15.
Janus Henderson has $356.1 billion in assets under management.
